Built for Trust
Everything parents and teachers need to know about how Kidora keeps children safe, engaged, and learning.
How We Keep Kids Safe
Four pillars of child safety built into every layer of Kidora.
- โEvery AI prompt is screened through a keyword safety filter before being sent to the model
- โAI responses are bounded by a strict child-safety system prompt that can't be overridden by user messages
- โTopics blocked: violence, adult content, self-harm, illegal activities, personal information solicitation
- โSafe fallback responses redirect children gently back to educational topics
- โNo mandatory account creation โ children can learn immediately without an email or password
- โAll progress data (XP, levels, streaks) is stored only in the browser's local storage
- โNo data is sent to our servers โ it lives exclusively on the child's device
- โClearing browser data removes all stored information permanently
- โNo public chat rooms or messaging between users
- โNo social profiles or friend lists
- โNo advertising, sponsored content, or in-app purchases
- โNo data selling to third parties โ ever
- โAll content is anchored to standard K-12 curriculum: maths, science, English, history, geography
- โAdaptive difficulty adjusts to each child's performance, preventing frustration or boredom
- โAI Tutor encourages curiosity and asks follow-up questions rather than just giving answers
- โGamification (XP, streaks, levels) is designed to build positive learning habits
How the AI Moderation Works
A three-layer defence system ensures every AI interaction stays safe and educational.
Pre-send Scan
Before any message reaches the AI, our server scans it against a blocklist of unsafe keywords. Blocked messages never reach OpenAI.
System Prompt Fence
The AI receives a hardened system prompt that instructs it to stay on curriculum topics and refuse all inappropriate requests โ regardless of how cleverly they're phrased.
Safe Fallback
If a message is blocked, the child receives a warm, encouraging redirect response โ never a harsh rejection โ gently steering them back to learning.
Positive Screen Time
Kidora is designed to respect your family's time.
Short Sessions
Daily missions are designed to complete in 10โ20 minutes โ ideal homework breaks.
Goal-Driven Play
Streaks and XP give children a sense of progress, reducing aimless browsing.
No Infinite Scroll
No feed, no autoplay, no algorithmic rabbit holes โ just structured learning activities.
Natural Stopping Points
Each game session has a clear end state, making it easy to say 'five more minutes' and mean it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to what parents ask most.
Q.Do I need to create an account for my child?
No. Kidora is completely usable without an account. Progress is saved locally on the device. Optional Google Sign-In is available for families who want to sync progress across multiple devices.
Q.Can my child chat with strangers on Kidora?
No. Kidora has no social features whatsoever. The only 'chat' is with the AI Tutor, which is a one-on-one educational conversation that stays on the device.
Q.How does Kidora handle inappropriate requests to the AI?
All messages to the AI are scanned on our server before being sent to the AI model. Requests containing blocked keywords are intercepted and replaced with a gentle redirect response. The AI itself is also given a strict child-safety system prompt.
Q.What data does Kidora collect?
Almost nothing. If your child uses Kidora without an account, zero personal data is collected โ all progress is stored locally. If they sign in with Google, Firebase stores their display name, email, and a unique ID governed by Google's privacy policy.
Q.Is Kidora appropriate for children under 13?
Yes โ Kidora is designed for children aged 5โ16. Content and AI tone adapt based on the age group selected at first visit. We follow COPPA guidelines and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Q.How much screen time is appropriate with Kidora?
We recommend Kidora as a supplement to, not a replacement for, offline learning. Daily Mission challenges are designed to take 10โ20 minutes. We encourage breaks and offline practice. Parents can monitor sessions via the Profile page which shows recent activity.
Q.Can I see what my child has been learning?
Yes. The Profile and Dashboard pages show recent game sessions, topics covered, XP earned, and achievements unlocked. This data is stored locally on the device you're viewing.
Q.How do I delete my child's data?
Simply open browser settings and clear local storage for kidora.app. This immediately removes all locally stored progress. If your child signed in with Google, you can delete the Firebase account from the Profile page.
